He strengthened its crumbling finances and rid the group of the strong odor of scandal. Thanks to those efforts, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has regained its footing and, thus, can keep fighting the good fight for racial justice, perhaps America's No. 1 item of unfinished business.
