Six On Plane Feared Lost; Small Jet Hits Lake Michigan with Transplant Team Aboard

Six members of a medical team from the University of Michigan returning from Milwaukee with organs for a transplant patient were missing late Monday after the plane they were in crashed into Lake Michigan just off the lakefront. The crash stunned rush hour motorists driving along Lincoln Memorial Drive and sparked a massive air and water search by Milwaukee firefighters, Milwaukee police, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Milwaukee County sheriff's office.

Woman Gets Year in Jail in Police Standoff

Waukesha - A woman shot by Waukesha police in July following an eight-hour standoff was placed on six years of probation Monday including one year in jail and mental health counseling. In handing down the sentence, Waukesha County Circuit Judge Kathryn Foster warned Laura A. Steigerwald that any missteps on supervision will trigger revocation of her probation and imposition of a stayed five-year prison term followed by five years of extended supervision.

A weeknight Spanish-language newscast focusing on Milwaukee will launch July 2 on Channel 63, the local Telemundo network affiliate.
