Artist and Green Gallery owner John Riepenhoff retrofitted a 1970s vending machine at the gas station-turned- coffee shop Sherman Perk (4924 W. Roosevelt Drive) for IN:SITE's latest temporary public art project. For 25 cents each, you can get a postcard of underappreciated places in Milwaukee featuring work by local artists, including Santiago Cucullu, Tamiko Dargan, Faythe Levine, Sarah Luther, Joe Riepenhoff, Chris Smith and Renato Umali.

Milwaukee has a festival problem. RiverSplash, the unofficial beginning of the festival season, began the summer in inauspicious fashion after an 18-year-old was shot in the foot and police were pelted with beer bottles. Alcohol and poor security were cited as the root of the out-of-control behavior.
