Obituary Coach Rooted for Athletes, Students Homestead High Teacher Dies During Run with Team
Homestead High School girls distance running coach Andrew Edington was so respected by the members of his team that he persuaded some of them to go out for a run Saturday morning -- even though their prom was that night. After working out with the girls, Edington planned to meet his wife at their church so they could drive together to watch their daughter's soccer game.
Rains Cause Sewer Overflows 3-Inch Soaking Causes Mmsd to Close Gates
Sunday's rains sent millions of gallons of storm water into sewers and into the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District's deep tunnel, causing overflows, MMSD officials said. Forecasts of more rain later in the day prompted district workers to begin closing gates from combined sewers to the deep tunnel around 2:45 p.m. Sunday, district spokesman Bill Graffin said. Overflows started soon after that.

Despite reduced traffic due to rainy weather, members of a drunken driving task force from 13 different police agencies arrested 29 suspected drunken drivers overnight Saturday. County Workers Delaying Retirement Bad Economy Means Less Pension Payout for Now
Milwaukee County employee retirements have slowed significantly, a likely result of workers hanging onto jobs longer because of the uncertain economy and downsized workforce, county officials say. That means pension and "backdrop" lump sum payments are also lower, though the effect may be only temporary, said Gerald Schroeder, the county's retirement manager.

Lawyer Accused of Robbing Client Guardian Sues Attorney, Firm Over $600,000
The guardian for an elderly woman has filed a lawsuit against a prominent Milwaukee law firm and a suspended lawyer, claiming the lawyer stole more than $600,000 from her. Supportive Community Services, the legal guardian for Dorothy G. Phinney, filed the lawsuit against Quarles & Brady and Jeffrey Elverman, a lawyer who was with the firm when the alleged theft occurred between December 2001 and September 2004.
