Compensation of top executives at the four investor-owned utilities in eastern Wisconsin has risen significantly in recent years, at a time when ratepayers have been facing higher prices.

Since 1997, compensation of top executives at utilities based in Milwaukee, Green Bay and Madison has risen between 73% and 450%, according to an analysis prepared by an energy customers group, the Wisconsin Industrial Energy Group.
