Madison - The Legislature is racing to preserve those precious last minutes of bar time - and helping tavern owners avoid tickets for staying open too late - by trying to make sure they won't have to close early on the new daylight-saving time starting date.

Although clocks in Wisconsin homes must spring forward by an hour at 2 a.m. March 11, drinkers could imbibe at least another 30 minutes under a bill tentatively set for a Senate vote Tuesday. An Assembly committee is expected to endorse the change on the same day.
