Holiday travelers will take to the skies at a time when Mitchell International Airport is experiencing more delays than it has in at least three years.

That's bad news for thousands flying this week through Milwaukee's primary airfield, which ranked 12th worst among the 60 largest airports in the United States for its September on-time arrival rate, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Nearly one in three flights arriving at Mitchell has been delayed, diverted or canceled through September of this year.
