Madison The state budget Republicans will start to push through the Legislature next week spends more in general taxes than what Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle recommended in February, a new report estimated Friday.

But when all public funds state taxes, fees, licenses, tuition and federal aid are counted, the Republicans' two-year budget spends $355 million less than what Doyle recommended, said the Legislative Fiscal Bureau.
