Platteville -- A major land acquisition that will provide new hunting and recreational opportunities in southeastern Wisconsin was approved Wednesday by the Natural Resources Board.

The board voted, 6-0, to spend $10.8 million to purchase 970 acres from the owner of Rainbow Springs resort, which hugs the Mukwonago River in Waukesha and Walworth counties.
