Doyle Extends Deadline On Energy Rebate Initiative

Summary

Gov. Jim Doyle on Thursday extended the deadline for Wisconsin residents to receive rebates for "home energy audits" and installation of new high-efficiency appliances.

The "Energy Help Initiative," launched in September as a way to help residents grapple with rising energy costs, is administered by Focus on Energy, a consortium of energy-related organizations in the state. The program allows residents to receive a $100 rebate for having their homes inspected by a trained home energy consultant, and rebates ranging from $150 to $200 for installing furnaces and other energy-efficient appliances that carry the Energy Star label.
