Madison - The popular Internet site that provides summaries of Wisconsin court actions ranging from felony convictions to speeding tickets has both ruined and saved lives, according to speakers at a hearing Thursday on a bill that would make it harder to see those records.

Rep. Marlin Schneider (D-Wisconsin Rapids) defended his bill to take court records off the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access Web site. Groups representing Wisconsin employers, landlords and newspapers opposed the bill.
