Brookfield - Elmbrook School Board members on Tuesday positioned themselves to seek what, if approved, would be the most expensive school building project in the state's history - about $100 million to renovate and expand Brookfield Central and Brookfield East high schools.

The largest school building referendum to pass in Wisconsin was $70.8 million, which Janesville School District voters approved Nov. 7 to renovate and expand two high schools.
