Summary


After an enrollment boom of nearly two decades, the number of Wisconsin students in home-based education declined the past two school years.

At 20,741, the total number of home schoolers in 2004-'05 still was far greater than the 966 home-schooled students recorded by the state Department of Public Instruction in 1984. But it marked a 2.6% decline, or 547 students, from the peak in 2002.
