It didn't take long for Dean Jensen to fall in love with the poster. It was a one-sheet, from 1925, with clear bold colors, almost Lautrec-like in its simplicity.

"The Sensation of Vaudeville," the poster declared. "San Antonio's Siamese Twins. Daisy and Violet Hilton. Born Joined Together." And alongside the type, the pretty twins smiled out at viewers, holding their musical instruments, their shiny brown curls pinned on the side with huge blue bows.

"I was transfixed," says Jensen, remembering, his eyes almost dreamily fixed on a far wall of his art gallery on N. Water St. "So I started doing research on them and they took over my life."

That was about 10 years ago.

This month, Jensen's preoccupation with the Hilton twins finally hits the street.

Publisher Ten Speed Press is bringing out his 411-page biography, "The Lives and Loves of Daisy and Violet Hilton: A True Story of Conjoined Twins."
