Museum Evacuates After Old Ammo Scare; Officials Concerned Munitions Could Be Live

The Milwaukee Public Museum evacuated visitors and employees as a precautionary move about 4 p.m. Thursday after concerns were raised that old ammunition kept in storage could be live, museum spokeswoman Lisa Berman said.

The city and county bomb squads began X-raying about 60 to 70 grenades, shells and other pieces and then moved the ammunition off- site. They will destroy anything that could pose trouble, Berman said.
