The number of Wisconsin counties declared federal disaster areas grew to 12 Wednesday, paving the way for more flood victims to apply for assistance.

As Federal Emergency Management Agency officials continued to assess counties in the state hit by torrential rains and flooding this month, five more -- Waukesha, Washington, Dodge, Green and Winnebago -- were added to the list on Wednesday.
