A judge's decision on the fate of a 3-year-old boy who survived being violently thrown by his overwhelmed mother as an infant has been delayed because the boy's father a former leader in the Latino community was arrested on a charge of possession with intent to deliver more than 100 pounds of cocaine.

Modesto "Mo" Fontanez, 46, who founded the Latin Kings street gang in Milwaukee and is the founder and former director of the Latino Community Center, was arrested April 7 during a traffic stop in Las Vegas, court records show. Based on federal authorities' estimates of the street price of cocaine, the 49 kilograms that law enforcers say was in the pickup that Fontanez was driving was worth $4.9 million to $7.35 million.
