PASSING PALMER: Carson Palmer had his streak of nine regular- season games with a passer rating of more than 100 snapped last week when he registered 53.8 against Pittsburgh. The nine in a row tied the NFL record set by Peyton Manning in 2004. How did the Steelers stop him? "If you play Carson Palmer, you've got to bring pressure," an assistant coach for a Bengals opponent said. "He doesn't like people in his face or around his feet. If you give him time, he'll pick you apart like a Christmas turkey. If you put pressure on him, he'll try to make the big play and end up making the bad play. He's so-so (tough). If you get pressure in his face, you can rattle this guy." A defensive coach for another Bengals foe disagreed. "I don't think he's gun-shy or skittish," the coach said.
