Rahjeen Mitchell woke up last week in a hospital, woozy with a foggy memory. The 12-year-old figured she must have fallen and hit her head.

On Monday, her mother and a psychiatrist from Children's Hospital of Wisconsin told her what much of Milwaukee already knew: She had been hit in the forehead by an errant bullet outside her home June 13, the same day she graduated from Barton Elementary School.
