Summary

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will be filled tonight with conservatives celebrating the achievements of their leading intellectuals and advocates. At the center of the gala honoring the winners of the 2006 Bradley Prizes will be Michael Grebe, the former chairman of the Milwaukee-based Foley & Lardner law firm and a national leader in Republican politics. Grebe now directs the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, which created the prizes to reward conservative scholarship and activism. The 2006 winners of the $250,000 stipends are: Shelby Steele, of the Hoover Institution; Clint Bolick, president and general counsel of the Alliance for School Choice; Hernando de Soto, an economist who helped modernize Peru's economic system; and Fouad Ajami, an expert on Middle Eastern politics and culture. Grebe took five with Journal Sentinel reporter Tom Held.
