The year 2008 closed to highlights and lowlights. Those bridges were part of the Marquette Interchange, completed under budget and ahead of schedule. That lake was Lake Delton, the victim of damaging spring flooding; Brett Favre riled many as he exited for the New York Jets; the national recession landed hard in manufacturing- heavy Wisconsin; and Barack Obama bested Hillary Clinton in the state's presidential primary on his way to doing the same to the GOP's John McCain in November.
