A homeless man who was being held in isolation at the Criminal Justice Facility in Milwaukee appears to have died of tuberculosis despite having been treated for the illness for 12 to 14 days, according to a medical examiner's report.

Tests show the strain of TB was not drug resistant, said Geoffrey Swain, medical director for the Milwaukee Health Department. Marshall Wilburn could have died simply because the disease was so advanced by the time it was discovered, or his other health problems could have contributed to his death, Swain said.
