Summary
Fans of Junie B. Jones author Barbara Park have a whole month to prepare for a visit from the writer of the popular children's books. Park will stop in Milwaukee on Feb. 1 as part of a six-city tour to promote her latest book, this one inspired by her own grandson. "Ma! There's Nothing to Do Here!" is a picture book about an unborn baby. Illustrated by Viviana Garofoli, the book is a perfect story for expectant mothers as well as for young children. It tells the story of a baby in utero, a little being who cannot wait to escape from the womb and enter the bigger world. There's nothing to see here, the fetus thinks, no trees, no puppies, no toys, no girls, no boys, no swings, no parks, no zoo. Publicity material for the book relates that when Park first saw the sonogram of her grandson she wondered what he was up to all day alone in there. There's nothing at all to do there, she thought. She thought then of a story of an unborn child as something to give to her daughter-in-law for her baby shower. Park will discuss the book at Harry W. Schwartz bookstores.
