Sussex The children of Horace Moran have learned a well-kept secret: Their father bought his students and athletes things such as baseball gloves, yearbooks and school sweaters when they couldn't afford them.

In honor of the hidden contributions, Moran's three children have launched a fund in their father's name. It will help students struggling financially at West Salem High School, near La Crosse, where he taught mathematics and coached basketball and baseball.
