Johnson Outdoors Inc. said disappointing holiday sales and retailers' focus on keeping inventories low contributed to an 8.2% drop in revenue and a wider loss.

The Racine maker of recreational equipment reported a fiscal first quarter loss of $6.9 million, or 76 cents a share, compared with a loss of $4.7 million, or 52 cents, a year earlier.
