The attorney who pleaded guilty to participating in a kickback scheme with former State Sen. Gary George has been suspended from practicing law for 18 months, according to a state Supreme Court decision handed down Wednesday.

But because the suspension of Mark Sostarich's law license is retroactive, the clock started ticking in May 2004 in the midst of a federal criminal case against him. That means Sostarich will be eligible to rejoin the bar in November.
