Summary
Men's college basketball teams from Wisconsin certainly deserve high marks for their efforts in making it to and doing well in the NCAA tournament last month. The Marquette and University of Wisconsin-Madison teams did their state proud. But the Marquette women did them one better: They brought home a national title in the form of the Women's National Invitation Tournament championship by beating Michigan State on April 5. The tournament's MVP honors were awarded deservedly to Marquette's Krystal Ellis. But also worth noting is the play of Erin Monfre, who recently lost her mother to cancer and who scored a season-high 15 points in the game that mattered most. "I think (Monfre) had an angel with her today," said Ellis. "She was amazing." Congratulations to the Marquette women's basketball team.
