State lawmakers and the governor not judges or county boards should be setting Wisconsin's energy policy, state Rep. Phil Montgomery (R-Ashwaubenon) said Friday.

Since assuming chairmanship of the Assembly's Energy and Utilities Committee, Montgomery has wasted no time in dealing with the two most controversial energy projects facing the state the coal-fired power plants planned for Oak Creek and the long-planned, long-opposed Wausau-to-Duluth power line.
