We agreed with the vote the other day that rejected a request from the Germantown School District to secede from the Milwaukee Area Technical College and to join the Moraine Park Tech College District. We think -- though Germantown and other school districts have raised legitimate concerns about MATC's high taxes -- that Germantown is a part of the greater Milwaukee area and belongs with MATC.

But we also think the fact that taxpayers are up in arms means the state needs to look at a different way of funding the tech schools and to consider revamping the two systems of two-year schools in Wisconsin. We hope a legislator or two brings up those issues in the next session.
