For the past year and half, Betty Ives has watched her Social Security checks shrink as the government deducts premiums for prescription drug coverage she is not receiving. -- Ives estimates she is out more than $1,000 and has been unable to get anyone to solve her problem. -- "I don't understand how they can keep taking this money from me," said Ives, who lives in Oshkosh. "I'm going to be 82 in October, and to go through this is terrible."
Ives is one of about 138,000 seniors nationwide who are stuck in bureaucratic gridlock as Medicare Part D premiums are erroneously deducted from their Social Security checks.
