Any number of elements must come together to make a showhouse fund-raiser successful: a hard-working planning committee; hundreds of volunteers; a supportive community and, of course, a house.

Like all the other components contributing to the Breast Cancer Showhouse, this year's house is very much up to the task. The 7,400- square-foot Mediterranean Revival mansion on Lake Drive in Shorewood offers expansive views of Lake Michigan, lovely gardens, rich architectural detailing and three floors of rooms newly decorated by some of the area's most respected designers.
