The start of Black History Month is a reminder to celebrate and reflect on the contributions of African-American leaders. And a big part of that history belongs to Coretta Scott King, who died this week at age 78.
As the widow of Martin Luther King Jr., she was known as "the first lady of civil rights." She carried on his legacy and founded the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change in Atlanta. She traveled the world to speak on behalf of those frequently unheard, including women and children, gays and lesbians, and the homeless.See the full content of this document
