Midwest Air Group Inc. does not have to provide a list of its shareholders to spurned suitor AirTran Holdings Inc., a New York trial judge has ruled.

AirTran is seeking the shareholders list as part of its hostile takeover bid of Oak Creek-based Midwest Air, corporate parent of Midwest Airlines and Midwest Connect. AirTran has been contacting institutional shareholders to promote its $13.25-per-share takeover bid, and the Orlando, Fla.-based company argued in a lawsuit that Midwest Air is required by New York state law to provide a list of all its owners.
