By his own admission Monroe Gierl is a big-time reality television fan. After watching the first two seasons of "Endurance: Hawaii," an NBC Saturday morning program, Gierl submitted an audition tape and was one of 20 teenagers selected from thousands of applicants from around the country. Beginning last June, he spent a month in Hawaii enduring a series of physical and mental challenges. He and his yellow-team partner, Bryannah Bascon of Stoughton, Mass., were among the final three teams when he was eliminated in the program that aired Feb. 5. The 16-year-old sophomore at Nicolet High School spoke with reporter Marie Rohde about his brush with fame.
