Milwaukee School Board member Jennifer Morales said she's struggled internally all her life with the issue of her sexuality. Through two marriages and motherhood, three political campaigns, professional and community work and years of therapy, the inner dialogue continued, she said Wednesday.

Now that she's clarified the issue for herself, she said she wants to be clear with the public. "It's important now that I identify as a lesbian because I feel a particular responsibility with the proposed state constitutional ban on gay marriages and civil unions on the ballot in November," she said Wednesday.
