Since the early 1990s, virtually each biennial election has shifted power on the Milwaukee School Board from one faction to the other. But this time around, it's unclear just how things have shifted.

Two new members - Michael Bonds and Tim Petersons - don't clearly identify with either side, at least not yet. Which is not necessarily bad. Maybe they can bridge the factions. In any event, the new School Board must adopt as its top goal getting the Milwaukee Public Schools to work for all students.
