Mps Board Member Introduces Shuttle Plan Students Would Attend Revamped Schools Nearby

Saying he wants "to revolutionize how we're doing busing," Milwaukee School Board member Michael Bonds said Wednesday he is proposing changes aimed at showing the way to improve Milwaukee Public Schools' poor results in getting children to attend schools close to home.

Bonds' proposal is focused on a group of schools generally along W. Hampton Ave. His plan would include the first program in MPS to offer shuttle service for students from pick-up spots near their homes to nearby schools, with the intention of shifting kids away from using full bus service to attend distant schools.
