Don Turek proud veteran, steadfast advocate for veterans and longtime executive director of the War Memorial Center learned something unexpected about freedom from protests during the Vietnam War.
In the late 1960s, a group of protesters wanted to stage an anti- war rally at the center. Turek, who then counted himself among the hawks of the day, later said he "found a reason" not to permit protesters inside. The rally was staged on the courtyard.See the full content of this document
