Having said that, the Packers enter the second half of the season this afternoon at the Metrodome in better shape than they were when the season started. Progress is what their fans wanted to see and progress is what they've gotten.
Oh, the Packers' 3-5 record doesn't stamp them as a contender or anything like that. Yes, they could be 6-2 if close games against New Orleans, St. Louis and Buffalo had been won. Or they might be 1- 7 if close games against Detroit and Miami had been lost.Generally you are what your record says you are by midseason in the NFL, and where the Packers are isn't too shabby given where they were a year ago.To win on a consistent basis, you need good management, good personnel people and good coaching.
