Loyola signs Averkamp: Ben Averkamp, a 6-foot-7 forward from Germantown who earned second-team all-state honors last year, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball next season at Loyola (Ill.) University. Averkamp, who has a 4.0 grade-point average, averaged 16.4 points and 8.3 rebounds last year as Germantown qualified for the WIAA state tournament for the first time. Loyola's roster already has four Wisconsin products: J.R. Blount, Andy Polka, John Benkoske and Tom Neary.
