When voters in Ozaukee and Washington counties head to polls for the spring county, municipal and school board elections, they will have few candidates from which to choose their next government representatives.

Of 118 races that will appear on the ballot on April 6, 85 -- or 72% -- are uncontested. And because of the lack of competition, only a few primaries will be necessary on Feb. 17.

The filing deadline for the spring election was Tuesday.

In the race for Ozaukee County Board, only seven of the 31 supervisor seats up for election have contested races. And for Washington County Board, just five of 30 supervisor races have competit...
