Rams 23 Packers 20; Game Report

Summary

Player of the game

Rams running back Steven Jackson didn't rush for 100 yards, didn't score a touchdown and did not have a rushing gain longer than 14 yards. But Jackson carried 23 times for 98 yards and was responsible for the Rams being able to drive the ball into the wind for their first touchdown and for a fourth-quarter field goal that turned out to be the winning points. On the touchdown drive, he accounted for 22 of the 64 yards and on the field-goal drive he banged the ball to the 1-yard line with a 7-yard run. The Packers had to account for him all day and were reluctant to use six defensive backs against the Rams' multi-receiver sets because they wanted linebackers on the field to defend against Jackson. "He's an excellent player," defensive coordinator Bob Sanders said. "He's big, strong and powerful."
