Glendale -- Through the earnest voices and unspoiled optimism of children, characters such as "Robert the Rose Horse" and the musical maestro, Schroeder, are helping to restock food pantries for the hungry in the Milwaukee area.

The students from Jackie Winston's sixth-grade class at Glen Hills Middle School read those stories and similar tales each afternoon to a squirming, young audience in Parkway Elementary School, bringing characters off the pages and generating donations of canned goods to the Hunger Task Force.
