Recycling Totals Continue to Fall in Waukesha County

Waukesha -- The volume of recyclable materials processed by Waukesha County continued its five-year downward trend with a 1% drop last year, prompting a county official Tuesday to encourage residents to be more diligent in separating reusable paper, metal and glass from garbage.

"The economy has a bearing on how much people are throwing away," said Karen Fielder, solid waste supervisor. "Part of it is that people are throwing less away.
