Oconomowoc -- A controversial upscale restaurant on the shore of Silver Lake received on Wednesday night the zoning variances it needs to open legally, despite opponents' claims that the business will degrade the lake environment.

"I have never done anything to harm the lake," Club Porticello owner Tony Pipito told members of the city's Board of Zoning Appeals in asking that his request for the variances be approved.
