The good news for Milwaukee County retirees: The free lunch is back for those attending next week's Employees Retirement System annual meeting at the Zoofari Center. And early birds may also partake as usual in a free breakfast.

The bad news: The pension fund has lost about a third of its value over the past year. And the meals aren't really so free. The estimated $5,000 cost comes out of the diminished but still large $1.14 billion fund.
