Madison State officials have recalculated their figures on the amount of new construction in the city of Milwaukee last year, adding $189.3 million to the total they reported earlier this week.

Tuesday, after appeals from Milwaukee's assessor, state Department of Revenue officials changed from $271.8 million to $461.1 million the amount of new construction in the city in 2004. The correction means that new construction equaled 1.9% of the city's tax base, up from the 1.2% initial figure released Monday.
