Summary
The news that a group of Harvard University researchers has managed to turn ordinary skin cells into what appear to be embryonic stem cells without destroying embryos has some people already shouting that they told us so. Unfortunately, they're getting ahead of themselves.
This development has the promising potential to depoliticize the hot-button issue of embryonic stem cell research because it would take the morally contentious issue of embryo destruction off the table, which everyone would surely welcome. But this is still very premature.
