At a panel discussion hosted by the Waukesha Chamber of Commerce and moderated by a member of the Journal Sentinel Editorial Board Thursday morning, the four panelists all agreed on at least three things:

The Great Lakes are at a crossroads. There is a real threat of harm to the lakes from thirsty communities outside the natural basin of the lakes. And the Wisconsin Legislature needs to approve strong implementing legislation for the Great Lakes compact signed by the governors of the Great Lakes states more than two years ago in Milwaukee.
