Today's Tmj4 Weather Plus; 2007 Was Among Warmest On Record

Summary

According to preliminary data from the National Climate Data Center, 2007 was one of the warmest years on record in the United States. Through early December, 2007 ranked as the eighth warmest year since record keeping began in 1895. Worldwide, 2007 is expected to rank as the fifth warmest year.

The year's preliminary average temperature in the United States is 54.3 degrees. That is 1.5 degrees higher than the 20th century average of 52.8 degrees. Although that doesn't seem like much, it is a huge increase when you consider the Earth's average temperature hasn't varied by more than 1.8 degrees in the past 10,000 years.
